Team Yellow finished the round robin of the 2016 playoffs with a perfect 5 – 0 record.  Although Yellow netted five goals in this one it was once again the team defence that ensured the victory.

Yellow found themselves in the unusual position of being down 2 – 0 in this one.  The team hadn’t had to come from behind in many weeks but that’s exactly what they did.  This week the scoring was led by Drew who potted two goals including a beauty wrist shot from way outside that he tucked under the crossbar.  Not to be outdone Jada came storming out of the Yellow zone and completed her second end-to-end rush with a goal in as many games.  Our scoring leader Owen also landed on the score sheet with a goal and two assists, not to mention his incomparable passion on every shift.  Rounding up our scoring was our player of the game, Davis, who has now scored in three games straight.  Up front our forwards Tommy, Christian, and Eric battled hard every shift making contributions to our offence and defence.  Back in our end the Joey’s squared defended without fear.  Joey G added a couple of assists for his efforts.  Cameron once again showed his versatility as he played both defence and forward.  Charging into the game Garrett was a machine who skated his lanes with determination and precision. As always Yellow’s greatest defender, our goalie Reed, closed the door time and time again allowing his teammates to battle back and eventually score a 5 – 3 victory.   Today, we missed two great players, Bronson and Dylan, but we hope to have our full squad for our final game.

Next week Team Yellow finds itself in the championship game.  No matter what the outcome the coaches and parents alike are so proud of this group of players who battled hard all year.  Every game and, more importantly every practice, they showed up ready to work hard and play.  Lets go out next Saturday and have fun!

See you at the rink!

Coach Jan
