The Orangeville Atom AA Flyers have won their fourth tournament of the 2013-14 season. The Flyers travelled to Brampton from December 27th to the 29th to participate in the 42nd annual Silver Stick Regional Qualifier and have returned home with the championship banner.
Orangeville finished round robin play in first place with a perfect 4-0 record, including victories over the Mississauga Ice Warriors, Centre Wellington Fusion, Halton Hills Thunder, and the Mississauga Jets.
In the semi-final, the Streetsville Tigers were no match for the Flyers with the young titans from Orangeville skating to a 4-1 victory. The championship match, played on the spectator rink at the Powerade Centre, was a fantastic and entertaining hard fought battle with the Toronto Eagles. Orangeville notched the first tally of the contest late in the opening frame and sealed the championship with an empty net goal with seconds left in the contest.
With their victory, the Flyers have qualified for the International Silver Stick tournament to be held in Sarnia from January 17th to 19th. Congratulations boys on another successful tournament!
