The boys played 3 games this week.

We hosted the Caledon Hawks on Thursday night. Caledon appears to be a solid team this year currently in the middle of the 13 team standings.  Dawson (unassisted ) opened the scoring late in the first period after a hard low shot from the left side. With about 10 minutes left in the second period, the line of Luke, Connor and Graydon grinded out a goal after some hard work along the boards and then in front of the net ( Luke from Connor ). The boys were up 2-0 after 2 periods. They were all working hard and Jayden made some nice saves to maintain the 2 goal lead. Caledon scored early into the third period and started to push the pace, the boys continued to defend and we scored an empty netter ( Graydon from Dawson ) with 6 seconds left to take the win 3-2. This was an excellent team effort, MVP's went to Luke and Ethan with an honourable mention to Jayden for giving us the chance to win.

The weekend was going to be difficult as we were playing a back to back against the 23-1-1 first place Barrie Colts. The first game was in Orangeville. It was scoreless after 1 period, the boys were playing well exchanging chances with the Colts. The boys continued to play well in the second and third period but ultimately lost 5-0. The score is a little deceiving as I felt we played better then the final result.

The next day we made the drive up to Barrie for the 7 o'clock game. The Colts came out strong and took a 3-0 lead 3:35 into the game. It was not the start we would like. I reminded the boys in the first intermission about what my expectation was in terms of effort moving forward. They responded well and scored 2 goals midway through the second to make it 3-2 with 1 period left to play. The boys continued to work hard a create chances. We almost tied it up on a couple of occasions but Barrie got the insurance goal they needed in to make it 4-2 and take the win. Both goals were scored by Johhny with assists from Brent and Owen V.

Some more encouraging news from the weekend. The defence group of Evan, Jacob, Ethan and Aiden continue to log lots of ice time and have played well.  After a 1 game absence Owen V. came back and played well against Barrie on Sunday night. Barrie has only lost one game this year ..... if you erase the first 3 minutes of Sundays game were up 2-1, not bad considering their record this year.
