The boys opened the weekend against the first place Georgina Blaze who were 17-2-1 going into the match. We started of with some jump. With about 5 minutes left in the first Jacob worked hard to brake up a play at our blue line, Dawson grabbed the puck and took it down the ice to give us a 1-0 lead ( Jacob assist ). The boys continued their hard effort, midway through the second after a hard grinding shift Connor's line was rewarded with a goal after Luke poked in a rebound, Graydon and Connor were given assists. It was 2-0 going into the third period we reminded the boys to continue the effort and to stick to our game plan, we knew Georgina was going to push for the win. With about 9 minutes left Georgina made it 2-1, the boys didn't panic and continued the hard effort.  With 6 minutes left in the third Owen T. won a puck battle deep in the offensive zone, he noticed Aiden was wide open at the point and passed it to him. Aiden took a great low shot and Dawson (in perfect position) deflected over the goalie to give us a 3-1 lead. We killed off a penalty shortly after, the boys continued to work hard and defend. With 2 minutes left the Blaze scored to make it 3-2 and they continued to press us. The boys played like true vets and were able to hold them off to take a 3-2 victory. Jayden was given first star, he was simply outstanding in this game and clearly the best player on the ice, Dawson was second star and Aiden was third star. It was nice to see the boys listen to our plan and execute it. Great job kids !

We visited the East Gwillimbury Eagles on Sunday, we started off well but were down 1-0 after the first, the boys fought back and tied it up 1-1 after Dawson scored (assist Owen T). Seconds later The blaze went up 2-1, the boys continued to work hard and tied it up after Jacob's hard low shot from the point made it past the Blaze goalie (assist Brent). With 9 minutes to go in the second East Gwillimbury scored 3 goals in the span of 2 minutes to make it 5-2. We called a time out and they boys seemed to reset, we had several opportunities in the last half of the game to score but we were unable to put it past the Blaze goalie. I think the 5-2 loss is a little deceiving, for the most part we played well, we out chanced the Eagles but could have been a little more aggressive in the first half of the second period. The defense played well Aiden created some scoring chances while Ethan, Evan and Jacob (game mvp) continued their steady play.

All in all another good weekend for the team, we beat the first place Blaze and played well against East Gwillimbury creating several scoring chances while trying to claw our way back into the game. The kids showed lots of fight and composure.
