This morning at Tony Rose A rink, hockey fans were treated to phenomenal action as Team Black returned to basics and played tremendous old-time hockey with true grit and a spirited team effort. Black's continued pressure on the puck forced Red into turnovers resulting in many scoring opportunities. Of course the outstanding play of Wagstaff in goal was once again on full display and supported by the stalwart defensive corps of Frew, Kalnay, Marks, and Rideout.
Speedy centreman Dunford took advantage early in the second to put Black on the board with a one goal lead. That goal ignited Black as Blakeley, the big strong winger, followed his own shot to extend the lead (from Rideout). Red answered early in the third to close the gap to one goal before Dunford took off again, after his linemates forced another turnover, to put the game just out of reach.
Come and see Black again next Sunday as they play their final game before the winter break. Game time is 9am but get there early before all the good seats are gone.
