Black Faces Biggest Test To Date
Last Sunday morning at Tony Rose A rink, Orangeville Atom division's own Team Black faced off against a formidable opponent in Tan. As the referee dropped the puck both teams exploded into action.
As has been their way all season, Team Black showcased their tremendous team speed and defense right out of the gate. This led to a quick lead as the line of Taylor, Pharoah and Young potted and early goal, as Pharoah leaped on a loose puck and buried it. Followed closely by another from Blakeley assisted by Dunford and Clement. Then Taylor got his second point of the game on a feed from Rideout to close out the second period.
But Tan pressed hard and secured the lead in this physical game that had both sides taking turns in the penalty box. Veteran defenceman Blake Frew was near unbeatable, showing the rest of the blueliners the leadership they needed to keep focused into the third period. Phenom goaltender Wagstaff continued to test every shooter. In the end, Tan came out on top on the scoreboard but Team Black showed their poise and gritty determination. These young men will undoubtedly return to the ice this weekend with renewed focus and general awesomeness.
