Ancaster & Woolwich
Back to Back Jacks! :)

Dear Players and Parents,

Back to back jacks .... too bad the Jays didn't pull that off as well.

Well team we had another full weekend of hockey.  Friday night facing Ancaster was a tough game to watch from a competitive standpoint.  As a players it's extremely hard to be involved in a game when you clearly have the upper hand.  I give the boys credit as we continued to roll and then made adjustments to ensure a strong finish.

As most of you know I'm competitive, and I don't believe in letting up as that is when things get sloppy and bad habits are developed.  With that, we challenged the boys to focus on passing, playing our positions and really implementing our practice drills into the game.  Again giving the boys a great deal of credit, they rose to that challenge and finished the game with class representing Orangeville well.

Prior to the Woolwich game tonight, we were unsure what we were going to face.  Their record posted good scores against Milton and Halton.  We discussed this before going on the ice and decided we would meet this head on, assuming they were our equal or possibly better based on their game vs Halton.  We then moved to a circle check around the room asking each player what would be needed for tonight's game.  With consistency the boys got it right.  Coaches added in a few points to include intensity, winning faceoffs, physicality and not letting them in the game.  The final score and the shots on net were a strong indication of meeting our goals.  Well done boys but still some areas to improve on.

This week will be our biggest challenge yet.  Oakville will be a strong demanding team and we will need to be at our best.  We have a practice Tuesday to prepare for this challenge.  We will continue to work on our game but also prepare to shut down what I know will be a strong breakout.

Great weekend team, see you all Tuesday.

ps: Reminder to parents, meeting tomorrow night at Hillcrest School, 7 p.m.

Sincerely,

Coach Jamie
