Green Squeaks Past Orange
In an epic battle today at Alder Green Arena, the mighty Orange squad had their hands full early against a worthy opponent in Green. The Major Tyke/Novice division fans were treated to phenomenal end-to-end action as both teams came out with their sites set on victory.
Green led the way in the first, springing to an early lead but in typical Orange style the boys dug deep and peppered the Green goalie, Orlando DiSanto with shot after shot through the first and second periods. But DiSanto put on an All-Star performance today as Orange veterans Kyle McDonald and Ty Mulder could not solve him.
As Green extended their lead in the third, Orange continued to throw everything they could at the other net while Bashir Suleiman played exceptionally in goal to keep the score close. Nolan Sanderson's tremendous defensive pressure throughout the game started paying off in the third as Dylan Hambly capitalized in transition to get Orange on the scoreboard. Then, Chase Irvine made a diving stab at a loose puck in front to bring Orange to within two goals. DiSanto was the dealbreaker in this one as his steady play proved to be too much for Orange's powerhouse offense on this day.
Orange takes to the ice against the Red Team next week on Saturday the 24th, 11:30 at Alder Green again. Come and watch as they continue playing their exciting brand of hockey.
