Game one...Game on!
Atom hockey kicked off the season at Alder this morning. The second game of the day pitted the Black squad against Team White and from the first drop of the puck, it was clear both teams had come out to play.
Black took an early lead through first period with two goals from Dominic Dunford and another from Luc Cundari. But White roared back in the second, pushing Black to the limit until Casey Taylor potted one to secure the lead headed into the third. Veteran goaltender Kenton Wagstaff continued to stymie Team White with textbook positioning and acrobatics throughout the entire game as Cole Blakeley netted two more to secure the win for Black.
Team Black looked great in this first outing and their stellar defensive play was a true dealbreaker - Warren Marks, Adam Fowler, and Blake Frew showed their leadership in anchoring the blue line. This was a full out team effort with exceptional play from Eric Rogan at both ends, big strong Rowan Brett down the right wing, Qaid Pharoah's hard forechecking, as well as rookie Alex Clement who showed he's got a lot of game.
Check out Team Black in their next game on Sunday October 18th, 11am at Tony Rose A versus Team Yellow. This exciting team is definitely one to watch.
