What a great experience! The Minor Atom
AA battled their way to a championship in their Regional Silver Stick in
Stratford back on December 29th, earning them a spot in the International
Silver Stick tournament in Newmarket.
The boys battled hard each and every game in the round robin including scoring in the last second of the 3rd period to earn a tie against the York Toros. They out worked the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the semi-finals and won the game 3-2. Sunday January 15th, the finals...where we met up with the York Toros again! This game was a nail biter, 0-0 was the final score after 3 periods of intense play. Overtime began with 10 minutes of 4 on 4, still 0-0. The boys went on to play 1 minute periods, beginning with 4 on 4, still 0-0. Then 3 on 3 and guess what, still 0-0. Yes on to 2 on 2, amazingly still 0-0. Now came 1 on 1, and the game ended with the puck in York's net. Way to go flyers!!!!
