New President
Orangeville Minor Hockey held it's annual general meeting last night at the Tony Rose arena. We would like to thank the members for coming out to the meeting and asking questions that impact our children and how we operate minor hockey.

Justin De Abaitua will be the new President of Orangeville Minor Hockey.

I decided a year ago to retire after twenty years serving as your President. I felt that Orangeville Minor Hockey needed a new face and a new leader to bring in new ideas. It has been a pleasure and honour to serve as President for OMH and I have worked with several good people over the years on the board, made new friends and lost some along the way. One of the best things is watching the players grow into young adults and seeing them out in the community years later and they remember me and come and shake my hand and say thank you.

I want to thank my family, my son Luke for me missing some of his games over the years and for me being away for meetings instead of being at home helping him with his home work or getting him to and from hockey and everything else that needed to be done. I look forward to watching Luke's last year of hockey as a parent before he goes to university.

I owe my wife Sue a big thank you for putting up with me and standing beside me while I was overseeing OMH for twenty years. Sue always listened to me gripe and re-wrote my emails that weren't politically correct. She never complained about me being away from her side while she attended to the family things, while I was dealing with hockey matters. Anyone who volunteers understands what I am saying and it takes special people who are at home while we are volunteering, they are the true hero's.

I look forward to watching OMH grow with Justin leading the team and the board members continuing to work hard behind the scenes making sure our children have a great place to play hockey.

Again, it's been an honour and privilege being apart of so many Flyer families.
