On February, 21st, in his 80th year, longtime Orangeville Minor Hockey Volunteer and community leader, Johnny Fitzpatrick suddenly passed away.
Johnny Fitzpatrick was a longtime volunteer with Orangeville Minor Hockey, volunteering for close to 30 years in various capacities such as executive member and coach. Many recall Johnny spending endless hours in the old Orangeville Minor Hockey Office, volunteering so much of his time and putting in many long hours, to ensure the youth of the area were able to play and enjoy our national past time. "Orangeville Minor Hockey is better for having fantastic volunteers such as Johnny Fitzpatrick involved in our organization" recalls Vice-President of Houseleague, Scott Lawson. "I remember going on the ice with him a few times, many years ago, and he had so much to offer and was so engaged. Johnny Fitzpatrick's commitment to the youth of the area and his selfless nature will not soon be forgotten and the foundation that he helped lay is paramount to the success of our operation to this very day." After his time with Orangeville Minor Hockey, Fitzpatrick continued his commitment to ensuring the youth of Orangeville were able to enjoy our national sport as he was one of the founding members of The Orangeville Wolves. Fitzpatrick spent close to 20 years with The Orangeville Wolves, continuing to volunteer his time to enrich the lives of those in the area. A staple in Orangeville area arenas for many years, Johnny will be sadly missed. Our thoughts are with The Fitzpatrick family through this trying time.
