May President Update to Our Membership

Players, parents, coaches and Flyer fans,

The Board of Directors met via video conference call. Below is an update that we can provide at this time.

We all have heard that Ontario may be starting to open up some day to day operations. Unfortunately minor sports will be last to open and we do not have a time line to give you.

The Board of Directors will remain as they are until hockey starts up and we can have our Annual General Meeting at which time we would have elections, go through the finances from the 2019 / 20 season along with any questions or comments that our membership might have. Our AGM meeting will be added to our web page as soon as we can set a date.

We are governed by Hockey Canada and Ontario Minor Hockey Association regarding the Rules of Operations. Hockey Canada / OMHA will send out bulletins regarding any new rules / policies they see fit in order for us to have any type of a hockey season this year. As well, the Town of Orangeville with have their own set of polices regarding ice rentals, dressing rooms and how parents can be protected in the stands during the games and practices. Hockey as we know it will change in the future.

The Coach Selection Committee is going to continue with the Tier 2 coaching interviews. The committee will schedule a video chat with those applicants in the next few weeks.

We know the House League lost their "Day of Champions" in March and we have some ideas that we are contemplating if hockey opens in September.

We are planning on open our registration for June 1, 2020. At this time we ask that you register your child but do not pay at this time. We are hopeful the season will start but if we aren't we do not want to have to refund those families.

Our office is "OPEN" for business via email or call (519) 941-2260 which is forwarded to Joanne who is working from her home during Covid-19. All of us are available by email or phone if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you and stay safe,
