The best of 5 series began in Aurora on Friday night. The Tigers opened the scoring midway through the first period. Shortly after we took a penalty and Aurora continued to press for chances. Our penalty killers and Jayden put in a great effort to keep the score within 1. A few seconds after coming out of the penalty box we were able to get the puck deep in the Aurora end. Connor was able to get the puck to Brent who put it behind the Tigers goalie to tie the game up. Dawson then made it 2-1 after Owen moved the puck up the ice to help create the scoring chance. Minutes later Aurora scored 2 quick goals to make it 3-2. Late in the second Luke won an offensive zone face off back to Jacob who took a quick shot and scored to tie the game at 3. We ran into penalty trouble in third period after some tough calls. With 5 minutes left we were short handed Dawsdon was able to grab the puck in the neutral zone. He carried the puck down the ice and lasered a shot past the Tigers goalie to give us 4-3 lead. We were able to kill off the reminder of the penalty. A few seconds later we were penalized again and Aurora quickly tied the game up. The boys continued to work hard and create chances late in the game but it was still tied after 3. We then headed into a 10 minute sudden death overtime. The boys played well in overtime creating several scoring chances and killing off a penalty. It was still tied after 10 minutes so each team earns a point. Jayden was given game MVP. He was excellent making some clutch saves for us in overtime and throughout the game.
