Had you told me before the weekend we were only going to score 3 goals and lose all three games, I would've been disappointed. But when you take a step back and look, it was a good weekend as the boys played well for the most part.  It's been a busy month and some rest will help early in the week.

Our first game was Friday night against 3rd place, Aurora Tigers. We played well in the first and almost took the lead after Dawson hit the post. It was 0-0 going into the second and our boys continued to pressure the Tigers. Owen V  had a breakaway midway through  ..... then Luke and Jake had a two on nothing but the Tiger's goalie was able to make the saves.  With about 45 seconds left in the second, the Tigers scored 2 quick goals to take a 2-0 lead going into the third.  We continued to pressure them but ultimately lost 4-0.  The score is a little deceiving as I felt we actually outplayed them for most of the game.  We were just unable to score on our chances. The line of Owen T, Graydon and Dawson did an excellent job at matching up with the Tiger's top line.  Jake was moved up to forward for this game and given MVP for his excellent effort.

We played 4th place Brampton Gold on Saturday and lost 3-1.  We started off slowly but Ted was able to keep it close.  We had a really good third period and created several scoring chances putting ourselves in a position where it could have been closer. MVP's went to Ted and Graydon, while Aiden scored our lone goal. I was a little frustrated after this game as I felt it was the second straight game we could've won but as I said early on, take a step back and look at the whole picture. I thought Graydon played well all weekend and continues to be very reliable on the defensive side.

We played the Heartland Dragons on Sunday and we were down 5 players with 2 lines.  Luke played center for the first time this year and was able to create some chances using his speed. We were up 1-0 when Brent scored and about 1 minute later, Connor made it 2-0 but the Dragons made it 2-1 shortly after. We went into the third period with a 2-1 lead and towards the end, the boys simply ran out of gas. The dragons scored 2 quick goals to make it 3-2 and take the win. Nonetheless, a really good game from our boys.

Overall, it was a good weekend we had strong games against 2 top tier teams. Barrie has moved into first place with only 1 loss this season which will be a huge test for the boys this coming weekend.
