Despite
having three players on the DL list and two away Team Yellow put on a gritty
performance against Team Green on Sunday.
Team Yellow showed their true colours when players were asked to fill vacant spots in our line up. Notable mention goes to Drew who dropped back on defense and looked like a natural back there. In fact, our defence was so depleted by illness that we pulled Kiefer from the Tan Team and Hayley from Team White to fill the ranks. Both played and excellent game and Hayley even notched an assist. Up front our forwards played an excellent two-way game with some intense forechecking and impressive work in our end. Tommy, Davis, Garret and Cameron welcomed all the extra ice time and never stopped skating. Dylan’s hard work paid off with an assist on one of Owen’s three goals. Our player of the game, Joey Nalli, played his usual never-say-die style in our end giving his all with every shift. Finally, our goalie Reed also had a typical all-star performance making some highlight reel saves look easy. Next week the playoffs begin and if this performance is anything to go by Team Yellow may surprise a few teams.
