Team Black Puts it All Together in Great Effort
What do you get when you combine speed, strength, determination, and character? Hockey fans needn't look any further than yesterday morning at Tony Rose A rink to answer that question, as the Atom division's Team Black rose the occasion with remarkable team play.
Wagstaff proved as steady as always and continues to lockout opponents aided by the increasingly phenomenal defensive play of Kalnay, Frew, Marks, and Rideout. This defensive group is becoming a force in the league. It was clear that Black had a mandate to get more shots and drive traffic at the opposing goal and that strategy proved effective. Scoring came across the roster from Blakeley, Brett, Taylor, Rideout and with a breakthrough performance upstart winger Owen Young rounded out the scoring with an electrifying 4 goal effort. Assists came from Dunford, Taylor, Pharoah, Cundari, Clement, Kalnay, and Fowler - nearly getting a point for every player on the team.
This game was all about team speed and being strong on the puck, two traits that have become the signature play for this exciting team. With a two week break, Team Black will regroup for the playoff run with their next game on February 14th against the appropriately Valentine-coloured Team Red. Game time is 11am at Tony Rose A.
