Team Black Attack!
Team Black roared into 2016 with a gritty team effort against a tough opponent in Team White this morning. These young men once again showed the packed house at Tony Rose A rink what teamwork and gumption are all about.
With Reed Ottaway called up to stand in for Wagstaff in goal, Black was poised and confident as always. Their commitment to team defense, strong play along the boards and pressure to produce turnovers was second to none. Today the defensive core of Rideout, Kalnay, Frew, and Marks left no room for White's forecheckers and as the forwards hustled back to help out, those turnovers led to may great opportunities in transition.
Wingers Brett and Cundari had standout games today - sewing up White in their own zone. But this game was won by everyone on the roster as centremen Taylor and Dunford won faceoffs and dazzled with great skating while the other winger pairings of Pharoah/Young and Clement/Blakeley similarly gelled together to create turnovers and opportunities.
Team Black will have to be at their best again next week as they are challenged by the always tough Green squad for the 10am game.
