Peterborough Under The Lock Tournament Champs!
Congratulations to our Minor Peewee Intra City Team team who travelled to Peterborough to brave the outdoor games and come home Tournament Champions!!!
The first game against Hamilton was a close one with the Flyers taking the game 2-0. Later on the same day our opponents the Toronto Humber Valley Sharks saw a back and forth match. With the game tied 2-2 the Flyers netted a late goal in the third period making it 3-2, and securing a Playoff spot Sunday afternoon. The Sunday 2:30 afternoon game saw -12 temperatures with wind chills on the canal reaching around -15. Our Flyers took to the ice ready to play the playoff game against the Toronto Humber Valley Sharks. After the end of three hard played and freezing periods there was still no goals.
First playoff overtime started with a 4 on 4 for two minutes....no score.
Second overtime started with a 3 on 3 for two minutes....still no score.
Third overtime started with Evelyn Jones and Owen Kelly take the ice to play a 2 on 2 for two minutes. Halfway through the third overtime the puck was dumped into our end, Evelyn skated back to secure the puck with two charging Toronto players on her heels. A tight turn and look up the ice she passed the puck up to Owen Kelly who was wide open. Owen skated up the ice from the red line with the Toronto players catching up to him. With a few hard strides Owen skated to the Toronto goalie and deked him out to clinch the win for the Flyers !!!!
Congratulations to all our Flyers who braved the cold weather on the Canal. Outstanding goal tending by Liam Perro and Aiden Clark, only allowing 2 goals in the Tournament. Way to go Flyers !!!!
