Lean, Mean, Green Machine Still Undefeated in 2015
After a long winter break, Orangeville's favourite Green Machine returned to the ice against the gutsy Gold squad this afternoon. In a battle for the ages the two titans tore up the ice with blazing speed at both ends, with today's game ending in a much deserved draw.
Green was anchored by 2nd time netminder Ehsan Pharoah who's daring and flopping style was reminiscent of the great Dominik Hašek while Gold goaltender Hobie Fitzgibbon-Ockenden thwarted chance after chance for his side.
Hustle was the ultimate leveler for both sides, and the team that chased that puck the hardest usually resulted in a great scoring chance. Green showed great maturity and patience in their forechecking today - cycling the puck deep in the Gold zone and wearing them down - which was never more evident than the great pass from Rideout to Tipping for a goal.
Green puts their undefeated 2015 record on the line next Saturday against Red at 12:30.
