President Update to our Membership

Players, Parents, Coaches and Fans,

April 15th, 2020 was our official date that our hockey season ended for the year. We all know it ended in March due to the Covid-19 virus that struck our community, our country, and the world. Lives have been lost, people are sick, our daily lives turned upside down, but we will come out of this if we all do our part and listen to the professionals. Trust me, I would rather be at the arena watching hockey, cheering on the "Flyers" or working hard getting ready for next season. Our schools shut down, other summer sports put on hold and our Flyers waiting to hear if they get to play lacrosse, ball hockey, basketball, soccer, baseball or any other sport I missed. Stay strong, stay safe, and help each other out.

On behalf of the Orangeville Minor Hockey Association, I would like to congratulate our Peewee AE team. The Peewee AE team coached by Wayne Braiden were going to start to play for the OMHA Finals.  Before the team could even play game one, the season was put on hold. The 12 year olds never got to play.  How disappointing for them to come so close, a chance of a lifetime possibly winning an OMHA Championship!!

Last week the OMHA declared both teams the "Champions" for this season. Both teams will share the victory. Good job boys, you played hard all year and deserve this victory!!

Our three Novice rep teams, Novice AA, Novice AE and Minor Novice were going to compete in their year end tournaments. They also lost out but all three teams had a great season and the players worked hard and had lots of fun.

Our house league teams were days away from their "Champs Day" as well. The executive are going to meet via a conference call and see if we can work something out to finish the season possibly in September if hockey resumes by then. We have had some inquiries regarding trophies, the loss of the ice time, and a few other concerns. As I said, we are going to meet to go over our options for our players.

Our Annual General Meeting is put on hold.  Our current executive will remain and work towards the best interests of our Flyer Families. I will provide information to everyone as we receive it. Keep watching our web site for any updates.

Please feel free to contact myself if you have any questions or concerns

Thank you,
Stay safe,
